KSHE Update
President's Message
I am excited to begin this December message to KSHE members by congratulating the facilities team at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for being selected by ASHE as its “2019 Excellence in Facilities Management” award winner. This award is given annually to individuals and teams that exemplify how facility managers and caregivers join together to identify an issue and create a proactive and viable approach to attaining resolution that optimizes the physical environment and improves patient care. The Owensboro Health facilities team is the first and ONLY hospital in Kentucky to receive this prestigious recognition, and will be featured in the upcoming edition of HFM.  Very well done.
KSHE Update
Greetings KSHE Members,

As we wind down 2019, we can look back at a big year for education and value for KSHE members.  Your KSHE board has continued to make big commitments in education across the state.  From free webinars, onsite training, and scholarships to Safe Day One version 3.0, Certified Healthcare Contractor (CHC) training, to the Healthcare Coalition Conference, you can be proud to be part of an organization that continues to work hard for you. This year has also been a big year to expand access to healthcare facility professionals by registering organizations rather than individuals.  This has allowed education to reach an even greater audience. At our upcoming annual planning meeting, we will be discussing how to improve and expand offerings and value to you, our members! In the meantime, here are some certainties for your consideration for 2020:
I hope that all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and looking forward to Christmas!
I wanted to remind everyone that now is the time to start renewing your membership for KSHE (https://kshe.org/page/MembershipRenewal). REMEMBER that each hospital (small/medium/large) will have unlimited membership per hospital. The owner of the membership will be able to manage a roster to allow for unlimited members. The key is to manage your roster via the KSHE web portal.
Associate Members! We have also allowed for unlimited accounts under one membership. Please help us fill the ranks. It was also exceptionally great to see our Associate Membership on the tradeshow floor at the KSHE Healthcare Coalition Conference this year!
Thank you!

Sustainability Spotlight
Annually ASHE hosts a competition among hospitals and other healthcare facilities to save energy and protect the climate, known as Energy to Care. To create local interest, KSHE has created its own competition, The Energy Derby, to increase efforts in hospitals statewide to reduce excessive energy use. Energy reduction is driven through improvements in energy efficiency with help from KSHE, ASHE, and the Energy to Care program. The member facilities that shed the most energy consumption will be recognized.
In 2019, KSHE is offering energy benchmarking support and a free energy assessment to members to assist facilities that may be limited on resources.
