President’s Message

Greetings KSHE, and welcome to “Summer in the Commonwealth.” I don’t know about your city, but it’s HOT and WET in western Kentucky. Nothing new right? Give it a day or two and who knows – maybe we’ll see some Kentucky sunshine.

There’s a lot going on in KSHE this summer:

• Three new hospital master membership accounts have been added. Read Andy Woommavovah’s Membership update to find out more.
• We kicked off our first FREE “Lunch & Learn” with a presentation titled “Top Code Issues - 2019”; AWESOME PRESENTATION! Read Mike Canales update for information about this and July’s FREE “Lunch & Learn.”
• Registration is NOW OPEN for the annual Healthcare Coalition Conference in Louisville, September 17-19. Sponsorship information has only been out for less than two weeks, and already nearly half of the booths are reserved. I believe this will be one of the most exciting and best-attended HCC’s in the history of the annual event. Don’t be late. Register early.
• Do you know what a Derecho is? Do you understand the impact this could have on your community and your facilities? Are you prepared?  Read Dick Bartlett’s Emergency Management update to learn more and to make sure you’re not caught with your pants down (so to speak!).
• The ASHE Annual Conference is being held in Baltimore, MD July 14-17. If you’d like to attend but finances make it difficult, ASHE is offering $100.00 off for any/all chapter members. To receive the discount, use discount code 100ANNUAL19 at checkout from the ASHE website.

Finally, it gives me a TREMENDOUS sense of pride to be able to tell you that once again your KSHE Chapter has been recognized by ASHE as “Platinum Elite” – the highest level of recognition that ASHE awards to its affiliate chapters. To be a “Platinum Elite” chapter, KSHE had to demonstrate its commitment to partner with ASHE through our support of ASHE’s long-range plans and objectives, and also to participate actively in ASHE’s Energy to Care Chapter Challenge. Please read Spencer and Christy’s update to learn about the Chapter Challenge and how your facilities can participate.

Thanks for taking care of patients in Kentucky by providing safe facilities/systems and well trained staff. What you do is really, really important.
