Healthcare Facilities Leadership Update

Thanks to all who participated or have since watched the Healthcare Facilities Technician launch webinars that were held on January 17th & February 14th. There was participation from all around the country. The questions and response during and since the webinar have been very positive. For those of you who missed the webinars I have provided a link to the February 14th webinar. (Audio begins at 2:36 minute mark). Sponsored by Damuth Trane.

I am also attaching a Frequently Asked Question document that was generated from the questions I have received during and since the webinar.  As a reminder, the goal is to start the program once 50 applications are received. If I receive the 50 applications by the end of May, the program will start August of this year. If not, then I will continue to collect applications for the following semester, January 2020.

Your KSHE Board has been very supportive of the HFT credential and has committed ten $500 scholarships for those KSHE members that enroll. It is also a KSHE goal for 2019 to help find 25 applicants from Kentucky healthcare organizations. As with many education offerings, KSHE is again leading the way in supporting and transforming the healthcare facilities profession.

On a related note, those that have taken or will take Safe Day One(formally CHT) will benefit by receiving additional academic credit towards the Healthcare Facilities Technician(HFT) credential. This will not only save you money, it will save you time and help accelerate your completion of the HFT credential.

In regards to the Healthcare Facilities Leadership program, by the end of this spring semester, the HFL program will have graduated 18 students from the program and have students enrolled from 33 states.  New Mexico is the most recent state to have a student enroll.

I look forward to hearing from many of you in the near future for enrollment into the HFL and HFT programs.

Best,
