Hello KSHE, and I hope this finds you well. With travel restrictions in place and in-person meetings cancelled indefinitely our print medium, webinars and virtual meetings have become much more important.

First, I want to congratulate KSHE for being awarded an ASHE Platinum Elite chapter for 2019. KSHE has been an ASHE Platinum chapter since 2013 and a Platinum Elite since 2016. Great job on sustained success, and Congratulation KSHE!!!

ASHE resources continue to be at the forefront of pertinent information and has been hard at work to help you and your facilities navigate the COVID-19 pandemic as the world-wide crisis has continued and evolved. ASHE has kept pace by providing the latest information to include how to re-open facilities to provide non-emergent and non-COVID related healthcare. Guidance on CMS waivers, personal protective equipment, and converting alternate care sites to patient space options are also available and routinely updated. Also, be on the lookout for information from ASHE’s recent COIVD response tactics sharing survey. With this data, you can compare your facilities regionally with the costs and surge-related activities of others.

ASHE welcomed a new education director earlier this summer. Lisa Bluhm, whose first day was July 27th, is a collaborative learning strategist and previously worked as a consultant helping companies with strategic planning and conducting needs assessments. Lisa has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola University in Communications and Marketing and is a certified master trainer. Welcome Lisa!

ASHE Annual Conference has gone all virtual for 2020, and it is shaping up to be a great time! It will be held October 5-7, 2020, and includes live and pre-recorded sessions. Check out the current schedule and you will see it includes sessions you don’t want to miss! https://s6.goeshow.com/ashe/annual/2020/index.cfm

ASHE election results should be announced by the time you read this. Region 3 members had the opportunity to vote for President-Elect and Associate Board member. Please welcome the winners to the ASHE board. For more information about the winners, you can visit ashe.org/elections.

Thank you for what you do and your dedication, as our job helps provide safe, effective and efficient healthcare facilities. Be safe, be well and I hope to see you soon.
