Greetings KSHE Members,

Hard to believe how much can change in a month. By the time you read this update, you will have been immersed in a national crisis for several weeks now! We know so much energy is being spent preparing and responding to what is and/or may happen. The education you all are getting on pandemic is invaluable and will become a part of your professional knowledge for the rest of your careers. As a KSHE Board, we want to do anything we can to bring value and support to you our members. As a result, we are pulling together several industry professionals to bring updates and create a weekly dialogue for you our most valuable resource. Please check out a few more details below on this and other education opportunities.

Now to April education:

 KSHE COVID-19 Weekly Brief – Webinar April 9, 16, 23, 30 at 11:30 CT/12:30 ET

These updates will provide national, regional, and local information impacting healthcare. We will have hot topics and success stories that are happening on a daily basis as we strive to put COVID-19 down and behind us. We also hope to create an opportunity to share real time problems and solutions from those in attendance. We want to be clear to communicate that the open discussion is a forum of ideas and not to be interpreted as direct action, compliance, or recommendations. We believe it is important to hear what others have done and are trying to do. Following is an early draft of the weekly briefs:

National/State Update
State Emergency Management Update
Health Department Update
Infectious Disease Update
Success Stories
Hot Topics
Exchange of Ideas/Issues.

Please plan to join us and be on the lookout for the webinar registration email.

Safe Day One – This online comprehensive training course is designed for contractors and in-house technicians alike. It also brings the benefit of preparing you for the ASHE Certified Healthcare Physical Environment Worker certification (primarily targeted towards front line contractors) and it is now recognized as a credit hour for the OCTC Healthcare Facilities Technician academic certificate. Sign up at safedayone.com.

Other Education Opportunities:

April 7 at 11:30 a.m. CT - IHFEA First Tuesday Technician Training – ABHR, More than just an inch away.

This training is intended as support for those seeking to obtain competency based documented training and also for those preparing for the CHFT and/or OCTC HFT credentials. These monthly trainings are designed to be highly engaging and will bring together several modes of technology while addressing a number of important healthcare facilities issues. You can go to www.ihfea.com to register.

It is sure will be nice not to hear or think about COVID-19 when we can. Hard to believe I did a CHC training at Lexington Baptist early March that had over 100 contractors! Good thing next one is not til September.

Til Next month, be safe and be well!

Best,
Mike, VP KSHE Education – mike.canales@kctcs.edu
