The Kentucky Society of Healthcare Engineers have a long-standing relationship with the Kentucky Hospital Association. Pam Kirchem represents KHA on the KSHE board, and President Joe Taylor attended KHA board meetings in February and May 2019. KHA represents 125 hospitals in Kentucky and works diligently to advocate on behalf of hospitals with one united voice. KHA utilizes seven lobbyists to stay apprised of hospital issues, speak to legislators and create policies that benefit hospitals and healthcare workers. KHA’s Circle of Friends Political Action Committee makes these conversations with legislators possible. The funds donated to Circle of Friends are used to support the campaigns of legislators who understand hospital issues. Support from Circle of Friends helps keep these legislators in office and ensure healthcare issues are on the top of their mind.

This year, the KHSE board has committed to support KHA’s Circle of Friends, reporting 100 percent participation from board members. In addition to the over $1,000 the board has raised, President Joe Taylor called on attendees of the 2019 Healthcare Coalition Conference to donate as well and challenged the membership to raise a total of $3,000 in support of Circle of Friends. Attendees participated in force and were given chances to win exciting prizes. The Kentucky Hospital Association is extremely grateful for the involvement of KSHE and their affiliated members. KHA and KSHE look forward to a continued relationship of providing quality healthcare to Kentuckians.
