It’s been six days since our 2019 Healthcare Coalition Conference in Louisville ended. What an awesome, exciting, and exhausting conference. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Our keynote speaker, former Utah Jazz star Mr. Thurl Bailey, set the tone for the conference with his “I See Potential in You” leadership training. Thurl stayed around after his presentation until every hand was shaken, every photo was taken, and every question was answered. What a gentleman! ESPN has honored Thurl and his 1983 NC State Championship team with one of their "30 for 30" specials. Take a look when you have a chance.

All the Tool Belt classes were extremely well attended, and it appears as if the attendees got what they came for. The KSHE Business meeting on Thursday morning presented awards to Charles Haskins – James Mason Leadership Award, and Sharon Berry – Norm Menser Award. Kate Proctor was our 2019 Scholarship Award Recipient. Kate and her beaming parents drove to Louisville to happily accept the scholarship proclamation. Matt Snow presented the annual KSHE financial report. I’m very proud to say that your KSHE Chapter is financially sound; financially healthy.

Wednesday evening’s social mixer at the Tavern on 4th (4th Street Live) proved to be a huge hit. Everyone was having so much fun we actually extended the event an extra hour.

Next year we will be back in Owensboro on September 29th-October 1st for the 2020 Healthcare Coalition Conference. Please mark your calendars as I’m certain you’ll be very pleased with the Owensboro Convention Center, and the host hotel – Hampton Inn & Suites. The new Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame is certain to be an integral part of the event’s entertainment.

On a more serious, informative note, the Kentucky Hospital Association in their KHA Health e-New Edition from 9/24/19 informed us about a delay in the implementation of the USP Compounding standards (USP Delays Effective Dates of New and Revised Compounding Standards). KHA and KSHE are both checking with the Joint Commission and CMS for guidance regarding the survey process in light of the delay from the original 12/1/19 implementation date. Please look for information from KHA or KSHE in the next few days when it becomes available.

Fall’s here. It’s about to start cooling down fast. Great, exciting things are happening in Kentucky. Enjoy!
