Outgoing President Message

Hello Kentucky,

Can you believe that 2018 is already gone? It is also hard for me to believe my two-year term as KSHE President has ended. Recently, I was told, “The older you become-the faster time moves for you.” It seems like yesterday that you all asked me to serve as your President and entrusted me with your precious KSHE program. I hope and pray that I served you well, met your needs and moved KSHE another step towards performing as a top contender on the national level.

Over the last couple of years, we (Kentucky Hospitals and Healthcare organizations, KSHE Membership, KSHE Board of Directors, KSHE Partners, KHA, OCTC and ASHE) have worked together as a strong team to build and initiate programs to be proud-of. A few of these programs and initiatives include:

  • KSHE attained the “Platinum Elite Chapter” award for the past 2 years. This is the highest-level chapter award given by the American Society for Healthcare Engineering.
  • Building and initiating the Energy Star - Energy 2 Care program across the Commonwealth. Ranking Kentucky 3rd nationally in energy management.
  • Developing and marketing the nationally recognized and endorsed “Safe Day 1” healthcare education / orientation program. Now available to all healthcare workers, contractors and vendors across the United States.
  • We have successfully doubled KSHE membership, allowing more individuals and healthcare organizations access to education and resources necessary for success in today’s highly regulated healthcare environment.
  • Improved communications and access to operational and regulatory information via our website at kshe.org.

It has been an awesome and productive two years. I want to thank the KSHE Board of Directors who volunteer their time, resources and valuable knowledge to make these initiatives possible. It has been my honor to be a part of this amazing team.

I would like to thank the KSHE membership for your trust and support. You make these dreams and goals a reality. It has been my pleasure to serve you.

A special thank you to the KHA. Your unwavering support and assistance has allowed us to reach healthcare organizations and people in need of resources in operational and regulatory education.

Last but certainly not least, I would like to thank OCTC for their belief in KSHE’s educational programs and providing the resources necessary to grow our programs on a national level.

Our Future looks amazing!

The KSHE Board of Directors, under the leadership of our newly elected President, Joseph Taylor, has developed a strategic plan focused on the next five years of operation. This plan will provide healthcare workers across the commonwealth, access to education and operational resources never before available. Under this strategic plan, KSHE will experience growth in membership to strengthen its foundation, improve communications and access to information across the state. A strong financial program designed to provide stability and sustainability supports KSHE’s strategic plan.

Our future is bright and exciting!

Joe Taylor will provide the leadership necessary to make these goals a reality. The newly elected KSHE Board have already rolled-up their sleeves and are ready to start this journey.

Please join me in providing Joe and our Board the trust and support they need to make these goals a reality.

Kentucky Proud,

Jack Merrill
