Hello Kentucky!

I love the month of September in the Commonwealth. We see slight changes occurring in foliage, days are becoming drier (less mowing…yay!) and the nights are clear with bright stars. Change is definitely in the air!

As you all so well know, change also occurs often in the field of Healthcare and can sometimes be confusing and overwhelming. Once you seem to get a grasp on a concept, process or regulation…..it changes. Be it code compliance, financial drivers, government regulations or service initiatives, we must stay on top of our game in order to keep our facilities safe and available to help people in need.

Charles Darwin stated: “It is not the Strongest or Most Intelligent who will survive………But those who can Best Manage Change.”

This year’s Healthcare Coalition Conference titled “Navigating the River of Change” has been developed to help you and your staff understand and best manage change faced by your teams. Educational sessions on Engineering and Facilities, Safety and Security, Purchasing and Materials Management, Planning Design and Construction will help “tool” your team to provide the safest and most compliant environment possible. We are also offering a comprehensive Emergency Management program, which includes a special presentation on the Joplin Tornado, to help organizations become better prepared. And for the first time ever, a hands-on educational program for front line staff called the Tool Belt Series which is offered at a reduced rate that includes food and access to the trade show. James Kendig, Field Director for the Joint Commission will inform participants on accreditation changes and requirements. Mike Rust, President of KHA will talk of the “State of the State” related to healthcare in Kentucky. Kirk Lippold , former Commander of the USS Cole will inspire listeners and kick-off our conference. Our large Trade Show will provide you and your team the latest in equipment, products and services to help in your quest to provide the safest-most progressive environment possible.

This year’s Conference will be held September 18 – 20 on the beautiful waterfront in Owensboro. Your Board of Directors has worked tirelessly to make this the best event yet. I look forward to seeing you and your team there. I promise you will not be disappointed!

I love September in Kentucky!
