After a volatile 2020, change is upon us, and only institutions ready to embrace it will position themselves and their students for success in Fall 2021, and beyond. Success begins with an integrated plan! Explore the dynamics of the discipline of integrated planning together with leaders from three partner organizations, SCUP, NACAS, and ACUHO-I.

This deeply discounted workshop designed for member teams will provide the tools to help move everyone in the same direction—towards the achievement of your institution’s vision and mission. Participants will gain essential competencies including:

- How to develop a planning process that works with your institution’s unique structure, culture, and people;
- How to design and implement a planning process that will focus on ‘how’ to develop plan goals and tactics;
- To align these plan elements up, down, and through the institution;
- Ways to resource your plan, and;
- Strategies for implementation and modification along the way.

Making the Connection

For our summer edition of College Services, we would like to collect stories from member insitutions on lessons learned with one year of experience in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.

- How were you able to creatively pivot when working with a deficit?
- Were you able to use your CARES funding? If so, how did you use it?
- How have you been able to support your staff in spite of furloughs and layoffs?
- How are you preparing for 2022 (with whatever that year might hold) and beyond?

The deadline to submit an article draft is April 23, 2021. We want to hear from you! If you're willing to speak to us about any of these topics, or if you have another idea for an article, please email our Director of Marketing & Communications, Abby Hazekamp, at abby.hazekamp@nacas.org.

NACAS Foundation

In 2020, much like the rest of the world, the NACAS Foundation had to switch gears early in the year to support institutions and keep students safe in responding to the coronavirus pandemic. We created new virtual fundraisers, and through an effective promotional campaign, were able to receive over 100 applications for our Campus Care Grant. Funds totaling about $25,000 were given to four highly-deserving college and university programs that address basic needs issues on their campuses.

In addition to Basic Needs, the NACAS Foundation continues to support areas such as Student Success, Enrollment, Inclusive Excellence, and Leadership through scholarships, benchmarking and research initiatives, and professional development. Many of the educational programs that you know and love – like our webinars and virtual roundtables, leadership institutes, and the CASP certification – are funded in part by the NACAS Foundation.

Membership

As part of your NACAS membership, you have access to a variety of tools and resources, including the NACAS Lounge! You can think of the NACAS Lounge as the platform where you can access your community. It is the perfect place to ask questions, receive feedback, share resources, and find ideas.

Here is an example of a topic thread that sparked a lot of engagement on the NACAS Lounge:

"Hello All, our campus has been presented with ideas of new revenue generators and I'd like to see if anyone would like to share their innovative ideas to get us out of this revenue rut. I was reviewing the Lounge and I saw this question was posed in October and I am anxious to see if newer or box busting (get it?...out of the box) ideas have emerged over the last few months. Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing your great ideas."
