Ron serves as the Associate Vice President for Administration & Business Affairs at Saginaw Valley State University and is passionate about raising money to support student success and wellness through our NACASCARES Annual Giving Campaign.
About the Event: Are you an avid runner? More of a light jogger? Totally into easy afternoon walks? If so, the NACASCARES 2020 Run/Walk, sponsored by Pitney Bowes, is the perfect way to raise money for the NACAS Foundation while achieving your fitness goals. Participate in this virtual run to help the NACAS Foundation support grants and scholarships, professional development programs, and industry research initiatives.
This event will take place Friday, September 28, 2020 - Thursday, October 4, 2020.
Registration Fee: $50 per person*
Fundraising Goal: One great thing about this virtual fundraiser is that you can share your story on social media and ask your friends, family, and colleagues to either join you or sponsor your run! We recommend setting a fundraising goal of $150, but every little bit counts.

The world as we know it is changing — The NACAS Foundation is changing along with it. Historically, most of our fundraising events were held in person. Enter COVID-19. We believe the work of the Foundation is more important now than ever before. As students return to campus, they face a whole new level of uncertainty. Will they have access to safe and clean housing? Will they be able to afford groceries and toiletries? Research shows that these financial challenges are not new, but they are certainly heightened by the pandemic.
The NACASCARES Annual Giving Campaign includes several virtual fundraising events that support the mission of the NACAS Foundation: To position auxiliary professionals, the higher education market, and students for success. This study was prompted by a request from NACAS Professional Development to provide a webinar on successful strategies and best practices for building community in residence halls. The first step was to reach out via email and telephone to housing directors at 40 colleges and universities in the United States, Canada and Mexico asking them to answer the question: What are your top 5 strategies for getting students out of their rooms and into community? The presentation will summarize the methodology, survey analysis and summary of best practices including real-world examples of the kinds of spaces that work to achieve the desired outcomes. REGISTER

While public health guidelines continue to shift at a local and national level, compliance to stated recommendations and mandates helps create a new campus environment for all stakeholders still physically present on campus. It is near impossible for many institutions to enforce every rule at every location on campus, which results in a need for stakeholders to feel empowered to uphold these standards for both themselves and their peers. Come learn from Colorado State University and the University of Florida on how they learned what their campuses felt they needed to act within public health guidelines and respectively, how the content was communicated to their stakeholders, and the methods that social norming has been brought to life.
