Last week, association staff and members of the NACAS Board of Directors and the Foundation Board of Directors met in Phoenix, Arizona for their annual meeting. Participants sat down for a formal discussion to decide on a budget and set goals for the coming year. The C3X 2019 committee also met in Phoenix at the end of the week to do a site visit so they could get a feel for next year's conference venue.

Are you looking for ways to get involved in NACAS? Want to make the most of your membership? If so, volunteering for a committee or board position may be the right move for you!

As a volunteer leadership-driven organization, NACAS is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers who are willing to provide time, feedback, and ideas to enhance the association. NACAS is committed to the level of diversity in its leadership that reflects the membership and the profession. Members are encouraged to nominate themselves or a colleague for various committee openings, including:

- C3X 2020 Conference Chair
- Awards Committee
- Canadian Committee (Members must be from a Canadian institution)
- Communications Services Committee
- Membership Committee
- Professional Development Committee

Other opportunities include volunteering at C3X, regional conferences, serving on your regional board of directors, and submitting an article for publication in College Services.

An additional room block has been opened at the Orlando Hilton DoubleTree. Attendees can also book rooms directly from the hotel’s website.

Tee it up with the NACAS Foundation on Sunday morning of C3X at the Rosen Shingle Creek golf course. Connect with friends and colleagues, as well as meet new ones, while playing this incredible par-72 golf course. The tournament will be a scramble style golf tournament with mini-competitions on-course such as "closest to the pin" and "longest drive." Shotgun start at 8 a.m.

All proceeds from this event will go to the NACAS Foundation.

The summer is a great time to reflect on the school year and look forward to what lies ahead. What can you bring to the table this fall that will make this year better than last? There are five components to Emotional Intelligence that help maximize performance and assist in helping you live life in the flow. Through understanding, practice, and persistence you can build upon and strengthen each of the five components to be a better leader. The fourth of this five part summer series will focus on Empathy: understanding other people's emotional makeup and skill in treating people according to their emotional reactions.
