How would future planning for an event change if you could validate that the groups you previously invited/marketed to actually came? Making decisions with limited data isn’t ideal. And collecting insightful data can be a chore—unless you have the right tools. Join Richard Rode from the University of Pittsburgh and Matt Drummond from Blackboard Transact as they discuss how to capture event attendance data and use it to improve events. Learn more

Some NACAS staff members had the pleasure of touring the James Madison University and University of Virginia campuses. Thanks to their business operations leaders, the NACAS staff was able to tour and learn more about the campuses' auxiliary services operations.

At JMU, Chris Dastoli and Ashley Vercellone got an in-depth look at  the Campus Bookstore, Parking Services, Dining Services, Card Services, Student Unions and Residence Life. They were able to ask specific questions about operations, and learn about ways NACAS can better serve our members.

At UVA, Corey Salem, Lillian De Lisle, Esi Yarney, DJ Pepito and Ben Blohowiak began their tour with a roundtable discussion of the role auxiliaries play on campus, highlighting both the impact on the student population and the financial health of the institution. Following the roundtable, the staff toured one of the newly renovated first-year residence halls, had a high-level walkthrough of one of the campus' self-operated bookstores, and took an inside look at the campus' student union and main dining center.

All-in-all, the tours proved to be a great opportunity for the NACAS staff to better understand our members and their unique needs in operating their auxiliary departments. Thanks to UVA and JMU for their hospitality!

Jacquelyn Wright recently joined NACAS as the Educational Program Coordinator. She is a native of Richmond, Virginia and received her bachelor's degree in Humanities, Science and the Environment at Virginia Tech.

Prior to joining the NACAS team, Jacquelyn was the Program Assistant for Membership Services at the Association of Zoo's and Aquariums, a Member Advocate for Interfolio, and an intern at the Jane Goodall Institute.

In her spare time, Jacquelyn loves to watch Parks and Recreation on Netflix, travel to new places and search for new fantasy books to read.
