With rising costs, new technology, and shifting generational preferences, the higher education landscape is constantly evolving. For campus bookstores, it’s more important than ever to stay on top of these changes – and it starts with a deep understanding of your customers. In this webinar, Barnes & Noble College will share the importance of using voice of the customer research and insights to drive your retail and marketing strategies in order to position the bookstore as a valued and strategic partner on campus. Attendees can expect to understand the importance of voice of the customer research and insights and adapting to changing needs and preferences; apply the key differences between Millennial, Gen Z, and non-traditional students’ needs and preferences to their own business strategies; and better engage with their own customers/communities in order to develop insight-driven strategies that will enhance their retail and marketing success. NACAS News
The NACAS National Office is pleased to welcome its two newest staff members to the team:

Donna-Jo (DJ) Pepito, Director of NACAS Research - donnajo.pepito@nacas.org
  • In her own words, "I'm a California Native and the youngest of three. I graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Social Welfare and a minor in City & Regional Planning. My current role is Commercial Space Coordinator for the ASUC Student Union at UC Berkeley. When I'm not at work, you can find me with a glass of wine or at the boxing gym...or on a walk with my seven month old love of my life puppy, Luna. I am passionate about built environments and hope to pursue a career in urban development someday. I'm super excited to join NACAS and meet you all soon!
Abby Short, Marketing Coordinator - abby.short@nacas.org
  • In her own words, "My name is Abby Short and I am a young journalist with a B.A. in Media Arts and Design from James Madison University. For the past year, I have been working as a copy editor/page designer for "The Daily Progress." I am responsible for designing and editing eight or more pages every shift, including news, features and special sections. During my senior year at JMU, I had the opportunity to serve as an executive editor for "The Bluestone," the university’s yearbook, and "Curio," a student-produced magazine. As editor, I was in charge of managing the editorial board and staff writers, photographers and designers (a total of around 65 people between both publications). I discovered an interest in non-profit work during my communications internship with The Coulter Companies (now MCI Group), an association management group in Northern Virginia. I took the position, hoping to get more experience with writing social media and marketing content, but I found that I really enjoyed applying my skills in journalism in a way that allowed me to give back to the community. In my spare time, I love to go hiking, find new shows to watch on Netflix, explore used bookstores and visit the area's multitude of vineyards. I'm so excited about this new work opportunity and can't wait to join the NACAS team!"
Both DJ and Abby start on Monday, November 14th.
