Meet our new Conference and Events Manager
Ashley Hutchison graduated from the Hospitality and Tourism Management Program as the Outstanding Senior from Purdue University in 2006. While Hutchison attended Purdue, she was a member of various organizations - Alpha Phi Fraternity, Career Day Board, Black Tie Dinner Board, and Griffin Corps, to name a few. Upon graduation she immediately started working for White Lodging Services, a hospitality management company, and was continuously promoted throughout her seven years of service. Her most rewarding position was her role as an event manager with the opening team of the JW Marriott Indianapolis. Hutchison now resides in Staunton, Virginia, with her fiancé, Nick, and their two dogs, Max and Boston.
 
Silent Auction & Raffle
The 2014 Annual Education Foundation Silent Auction and Raffle will take place during this year's NACAS Annual Conference in Montréal. This year the auction will take place on a mobile platform, allowing anyone to bid on our diverse range of items. Last year we had items ranging from sports memorabilia to popular electronics to a beer basket! The silent auction will open on Sept. 27 and close on Oct. 4 in the Business Solutions Center. Senior Executive Institute: Innovation, leadership, legacy!
The Senior Executive Institute, where highly experienced auxiliary professionals learn innovative leadership skills, took place at the Chick-fil-A Headquarters and Innovation Center in Atlanta, Georgia. The participants heard the inspiring story of S. Truett Cathy, the creator and owner of Chick-fil-A and were given a tour of the headquarters, kitchens, grounds, and the Chick-fil-A Innovation Center known as The Hatch. The innovation center is where Chick-fil-A creates and tests ideas for how they conduct all aspects of their business. Presentations from Rodney Bullard from the Chick-fil-A Foundation, Rich Steele from Georgia Tech, David Stallsmith from ColorID, and Ryan Bowman from Chick-fil-A focused on how different organizations and individuals are developing innovative solutions to industry problems, including the future of campus cards. NC State University Dining goes green with rooftop garden.
Head chefs of On the Oval, located on Centennial Campus, started a rooftop garden in late April that is quickly growing in size and sustainability. The chefs created the garden to provide fresh produce to the University Dining operation, and those involved use organic gardening techniques with an emphasis on sustainability and up-cycling. On the Oval’s lead-chef Adam Smith and sous-chef David Johnson, who both play an integral role in the garden’s maintenance, started the garden. Learn more
