With the introduction of the ISTAT Latin America Forum this year, ISTAT expanded its reach around the globe and delivered new opportunities and connections for members. The two-day event in Panama City featured a welcome reception on Thursday, 12 November and a full day of fleet planning, finance and aircraft discussions on Friday. 

Holger Paulmann, chief executive officer, Sky Airline, presented the keynote address Friday morning to more than 150 attendees. Airline executives from 14 airlines, including Avianca, Azul Airlines, Copa Airlines and FedEx Express, joined manufacturers, lessors and financial experts for robust conversations and commentary. The event concluded with a poolside networking reception at the Hilton Panama.

ISTAT members returned to the Dubai Airshow to foster new relationships, network with business professionals from around the world and acquire insight on the future of the aviation industry.

Foundation Happenings
Thank you to Jetran International for their support and recognition of the ISTAT Foundation at the Jetran Golf Tournament that took place in Horseshoe Bay, Texas, on 21 October. Their sponsorship and corporate donation raised $50,000 to support the Foundation’s mission to provide funds for scholarships, educational programs and grants to qualified individuals and institutions that promote the advancement of commercial aviation and humanitarianism.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) launched the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting project in July 2013 with a primary stated objective: to change the international tax landscape which was seen as no longer fit for purpose and open to a multitude of perceived abuses.
