Professional Development
Harvard Business Review As organizations run leaner and flatter, your ability to move up can stall much earlier in your career because, simply put, there’s no place to go. This is true whether you work for a corporation, nonprofit, or public agency. So what should you do when you reach that plateau and you’re only midway through your career? There are at least four proven approaches, all of which require that you ask what energizes you and what saps your motivation.

Fast Company It’s a stereotype that men would rather be lost than stop and get directions, but it turns out asking for help carries a psychological penalty for guys. A study from researchers at Duke University, the University of San Diego, and the University of Pittsburgh found that male leaders who ask for help are perceived as being less competent. When female leaders solicit help, however, the negative image didn’t apply. Whether you’re male or female, the question shouldn’t be if you should ask for help. It should be, how do you ask for help?

Forbes The consequences of selecting the wrong targets are enormous. There are many examples from corporate history. As Montgomery Ward and Sears declined, for example, Walmart ascended to prominence because of their goal to serve smaller, rural markets and enlightened strategy about how to manage supply chains.
