The era of independent engine servicers having a free-for-all in disassembling and maintaining engines appears to be coming to an abrupt end with profound implications for aircraft investors. Engine original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are rapidly gaining market share with their all-inclusive support packages. The complexities of these packages combined with their tightening grip on all areas of the aftermarket will, in our view, result in the collapse of those second-tier investors and independent maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) companies who don’t adequately adapt their business models to meet these challenges. Read more about the forecasts in the Fall issue of Jetrader magazine.

Jetrader, ISTAT's official magazine, is circulated to ISTAT members on a quarterly basis. Each issue of Jetrader highlights industry news and case studies and contains feature articles and member spotlights.

Medical Daily We may often hear there are three things that make a great leader: stay focused, communicate, and inspire. Leaders may have the ability to possess all these leadership skills, but the difference between a leader and a powerful leader lies in how well she effectively executes these abilities in a position of power.

Strategy+Business Decisiveness is often cited as a desirable trait in leaders. Definitions of decisive include "having the power to decide; conclusive" and "characterized by decision and firmness; resolute." Yes, a leader must make decisions, but effectiveness depends on when and how the decision is made, not just that it was made.

The Globe and Mail Even when individuals figure out ways to protect themselves against e-mail and phone interruptions, technology places other impediments in their way. Sometimes the technology is awkward or outdated, hard to use. Sometimes it requires excessive signing-in protocols or approvals before important data can be accessed. Sometimes, employees can be more effective using technology that’s not approved for the workplace. It all adds up to frustration, as autonomy and flow are blocked.
