Wyoming is best known for its picturesque views and towering mountain ranges, but if Randy Scott has his way, it’ll become famous for something else: rare earth minerals. These resources have been in the spotlight since China, the country that dominates global supply, threatened in May to cut off supply to the U.S. as part of the U.S.–China trade war.
 
Epiroc USA relocated its U.S. headquarters from Commerce City, Colorado, to Broomfield within the Denver area. According to the company, the move to a technology hub will help Epiroc better facilitate company events, improve employee recruitment, provide better access to amenities and offer transportation efficiency for current employees.

Commodities were on mostly sound footing in the first half of 2019. The S&P GSCI returned more than 13% as of June 30, one of the best first six months in recent memory. It was not without its challenges, though.
 
Shipments of limestone on the Great Lakes totaled just under 4.1 million tons in June, an increase of less than 1 percent from the same time period a year ago, the Lake Carriers’ Association (LCA) says. June’s loading, however, was 7 percent above the month’s five-year average.
 
On June 24, 2019, a 34-year-old contractor with 10 years of experience, received fatal injuries when he fell beneath the wheels of a tractor-trailer. Miners were using a bulldozer to pull the tractor-trailer, which had become stuck in the sand. As the tractor-trailer began to be pulled, the victim was seen walking toward the side of the truck. The victim died at the scene from crushing injuries after being run over by the truck wheels.

ISEE Online Buyers' Guide

The International Society of Explosives Engineers Online Buyers' Guide is a tool used to search for products and services within your industry. There are several search tools located within the Buyers' Guide to help you find what you are looking for. Learn how to use the Buyers' Guide.
 
All ISEE members now have free access to the online research database OneMine. It’s home to more than 124,000 articles, technical papers, books in the explosives, mining, minerals and tunneling industries. Along with ISEE technical papers, members now have free access to papers from SME, NIOSH, AusIMM, CIM, SAIMM, TMS, IMPC, DFI and IIMP.

To access OneMine, ISEE members need to log in to the ISEE website first. Once in the members section, click on Research Papers and Proceedings. From there, members have two options to choose from. ISEE Explosives Reference Database Online contains only ISEE related papers and articles leading up to 2000. OneMine contains ISEE documents from 2001-2017 as well as all the 124,000 documents from other organizations.
