As ISEE’s Education and Program Consultant, Richard will engage with ISEE Committees and Sections turning their content into products made available to the ISEE membership and stakeholders.  Further, Richard will work with the Conference Planning Committee to establish the timelines for abstract and paper submission, recruitment of reviewers, communication with authors, and determination of which papers are chosen for the Annual Conference as presentations and poster sessions.

Richard will be retired from Orica at the end of 2023 ending his career as the North American Technical Services Excellence Director. Richard holds a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from the University Nottingham in the UK and an MBA from the Ohio State University. He has also undertaken numerous courses in leadership, value creation and technical innovation as well as teaching classes in the safe handling of explosives.

Over the past 3 years Richard has thoroughly enjoyed contributing at the Board level of the ISEE, especially working with the Conference team and reviewing the Papers that were presented at the Las Vegas meeting. However, while excited about the opportunity to now support the staff of the ISEE in furthering the objectives of the Society, he is sad at having to step down from his role on the Board.

Richard is married with two children aged 20 and 23. He lives in Colorado and enjoys mountain biking, fly fishing, skiing, camping and hiking with his friends and family. These trips often include searching out old mining relics and “ghost towns” that capture the incredible history that mining has had across the USA.

We are so excited for Richard to be joining us as ISEE's Education and Program Consultant.
