Letter from the ILTA President

Dear ILTA Members,

As you may have seen, ILTA has rescheduled its Annual Operating Conference and Trade Show to October 4-6, 2021 in Houston. While we plan to return to our traditional May or June timeframe for the show in 2022, for this year coming, we've opted to move the event to later in the year to give our exhibitors, speakers and attendees better certainty for their planning purposes in light of the continued uncertainties surrounding COVID-19.
Issue Update
ILTA facilitated and participated in a rollout event in Pittsburgh on October 7, at which Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Andrew Wheeler announced EPA’s new proposed in-service tank inspection rule.
ILTA, in cooperation with both American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers and the American Chemistry Council, on October 2 requested that the U.S. Coast Guard develop and publish a timetable for risk analysis on its new TWIC-reader rule.
Congressional activity in Washington narrowed in October as Senate Republicans focused on confirming Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court, while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin attempted to negotiate a COVID-19 relief package.
Attorneys general from 20 states and territories want congressional leaders to include per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, provisions in the fiscal 2021 National Defense Authorization Act.

The October 5 letter encouraged leaders of the House and Senate Armed Services committees to adopt measures related to PFAS. ILTA continues to monitor emerging federal and state policies to ban the use of PFAS.

Upcoming Events
ILTA has shifted the dates for its Annual Operating Conference and Trade Show to October 4-6, 2021. While ILTA intends to return to its traditional May or June timeframe for the show in 2022, given the current environment, it opted to move the event to later in the year in 2021 to give exhibitors, speakers and attendees better certainty for their planning purposes.
ILTA will host its monthly terminal member call on November 19 at 4 pm ET. The discussion will be led by ILTA Vice President of Legislative Affairs Andy Wright, who will overview the implications of the 2020 elections for the tank terminals industry.
