On July 13, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) announced that Senate Democrats have agreed to a so-called “Human Infrastructure” proposal that would cost nearly $3.5 trillion spread over ten years.
President Joe Biden reached a tentative deal in late June with a bipartisan group of 10 Senators to spend $1.2 trillion over eight years on a traditional infrastructure package that would fund improvements to roads, bridges, ports, inland waterways, transit, airports and enhance services for broadband, water and electric vehicles.

The Environmental Protection Agency is looking to include a group of 29 per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), groups of disinfection byproducts (DBPs), cyanotoxins and scores of other individual chemicals on the latest iteration of its periodic Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) list of candidates for future regulations.
While the federal government continues to look for the best way to regulate PFAS chemicals at a high level, many states are pushing to limit or outright halt PFAS use on their own.

Jefferson Energy Companies has entered into a contract to add approximately 1.9 million barrels of additional storage capacity to the Jefferson Energy terminal, as well as five pipelines connecting the terminal and ExxonMobil Beaumont refinery. Upon project completion, total storage capacity will be approximately 6.2 million barrels.

Kiner Morgan, Inc. has agreed to acquire Indianapolis-based Kinetrex Energy, a leading supplier of liquified natural gas in the Midwest. The acquisition includes Kinetrex's current stake in the renewable natural gas (RNG) market and its plans to build three landfill-based RNG facilities.

Aegis Group and Dutch storage giant Royal Vopak have teamed to operate eight terminals on India's east and west coasts with a combined total capacity of about 960,000 cubic meters for LPG and chemical storage. The transaction is expected to close in early 2022.

Plains All American and Oryx Midstream Holdings, LLC announced a merger of their respective assets, operations, and Permian Basic commercial work into the strategic joint venture, Plains Oryx Permian Basin LLC. hte merger will include all Oryx Permian assets and a vast majority of Plains' assets in the Permian Basin.

ILTA, working with its Safety Subcommittee chaired by Byrne Evans, filed comments in response to OSHA’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking that would make changes to the Walking-Working Surfaces standards.
ILTA’s 2021 Safety Survey and Awards Program has closed, with 49 companies submitting their safety survey and a record 19 submitting a Platinum Award application.

ILTA’s annual Terminal Operating Practices Symposium is back and better than ever in 2021! Every year, ILTA hosts TOPS, an educational series designed to provide terminal operators a forum to exchange lessons learned from facility incidents and near hits while discussing effective operating practices with their peers.  This year’s event will be held in-person December 6 in Houston, TX.
