ILTA and the UK-based Tank Storage Association sponsored a recent virtual workshop for the benefit of tank and terminal operators in the Middle East. The workshop, Tank and Terminals 2021, was organized by the global business events firm Marcus Evans. ILTA member company Emerson was the silver sponsor of the event. Held March 16-17, the workshop facilitated exchange of ideas and technical knowledge between participants from Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and India, among other nations. ILTA President Kathryn Clay chaired the first day of the meeting, providing an overview of recent trends in global trade of petroleum and natural gas. She noted that changing global trade patterns in these commodities mean new opportunities for investment and growth in import and export terminals in the United States and within its trading partners. She also noted that the U.S. exports of crude oil and natural gas are facilitating growth and access to affordable energy in many rapidly developing economies in Asia and Oceania.
Manish Agrawal (Business Development Leader, Emerson Automated Solutions, UAE) and Henrik Magnusson (Sr. Business Development Manager Emerson Automated Solutions, UAE) presented on methods to fortify tank inspection and monitoring with automated solutions, analyzing the latest trends in tank gauging and flow metering solutions, as well as technology options for digitalization of inspections to assure tank asset integrity.
