ILTA is thrilled to welcome United Riverhead Terminal as a new ILTA terminal member. United Riverhead, an affiliate of United Refining Company Inc., is a marine terminal located 80 miles east of New York Harbor on a 286-acre site in Suffolk County, New York. The terminal consists of 20 storage tanks (11 with heating capabilities), with storage capacities exceeding 5 million barrels, a truck transfer rack, and an offshore barge/ship platform that is the only deep-water loading/unloading platform on the U.S. East Coast. With an operating draft of 64 feet, the terminal's offshore platform routinely receives Suezmax vessels and is capable of handling VLCC tankers carrying crude, gasoline, diesel and heavy fuel.
United Refining Company purchased this petroleum bulk storage facility in November 2012. In 2017, it combined its other assets such as United Metro Energy in Brooklyn, NY, United Metro Energy in Calverton, NY, and United Energy Plus Terminals in Downingtown, Pennsylvania.
