NOTE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Dear Members,

I hope this note finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to fill you in on some ongoing developments at ILTA.

First, ILTA continues to hold calls with terminal members to help facilitate discussion on solutions to COVID-19 challenges and give members the opportunity to hear the latest regulatory and legislative developments. In May, we had two guest speakers: David Wulf, associate director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency at the Department of Homeland Security on May 14 and U.S. Coast Guard Captain Kevin D. Oditt, the commanding officer of Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston on May 21

Wulf spoke about the CFATS bill, including the treatment of gasoline, diesel and other fuel mixtures under the program’s rules and provided an update on CISA’s COVID-19 response. Captain Oditt noted that only one person in terminal operations in his Coast Guard Sector (Houston-Galveston) has tested positive for COVID-19, and that was at a container terminal. “Whatever you are doing, please keep doing it,” Captain Oditt said. He also provided a Coast Guard pandemic response update and discussed inspections and the upcoming hurricane season.

We are routinely getting 60 or more participants on these calls. In June, we will move to twice a month, rather than weekly calls.

Second, in May ILTA began hosting a monthly supplier member call. Our May 27 call gave us the opportunity to brief supplier members on the latest Washington developments, including pandemic response, introduce members to the ILTA team, and discuss the November 16-18 conference and trade show.

As a reminder, in addition to the calls, ILTA has two other easy-to-use resources to keep up to date on the latest COVID-19 response measures: 1) the dedicated ILTA  pandemic webpage with links to government sites, industry pandemic preparedness plans, and other resources and 2) a peer-exchange on-line forum, available through ILTA’s website pandemic page or directly at https://ilta.ideascale.com.

In closing, I again want to thank you for the hard work, that you, as an industry, are doing to keep critical products moving during this difficult time as well as your continued support of ILTA.
