Adding a third Houston-based bulk liquid storage facility to its roster, Contanda broke ground on a new rail containment facility at its Jacintoport Terminal providing up to 3 million barrels of additional petrochemical and chemical storage capacity, rail infrastructure and two deep-water barge docks along the Houston Ship Channel.
Carlyle Group Quits $1 Billion U.S. Oil Export Project

Without citing specifics, The Carlyle Group announced Oct. 19 that it was pulling out as a stakeholder of Lone Star Ports, LLC, saying only that Berry Group was now the sole owner of the proposed $1 billion crude terminal near Corpus Christi. The departure by Carlyle Group follows a lawsuit filed in September by Lone Star alleging breach of contract by the private equity firm.
The United States Now Exports Crude Oil to More Destinations than it Imports From

During the first half of 2019, U.S. crude oil exports rose to an average of 2.8 million bpd shipped to an average of 31 countries per month, mostly due to a lifting of the 2015 restrictions imposed on crude export. Conversely, U.S. crude import sources fell from 37 to 27 countries since 2009.
Port of Beaumont Reports Record Revenues, Tonnage

The Port of Corpus Christi reported a total tonnage of 12.2 million tons for September 2019, a 27% gain over a previous record set in March of 2018. In addition, the port reported several new tonnage records for 2019 including the highest quarter ever at 32.1 million tons.

The deal calls for replacement of the Enbridge 5 pipeline in the Straits of Mackinac, a channel which connects Lake Huron with Lake Michigan, with a pipeline running through a tunnel under the lake bottom.
