ILTA Staff Spotlight: Meredith DeZemler, Director of Meetings and Special Initiatives

ILTA Staff Spotlight is an ongoing feature that allows our members to get to know the ILTA staff better. This month our director of meetings, Meredith DeZemler, who has been with ILTA for a little over a year, is in the spotlight.

Meredith, what’s your background? How did you come to ILTA?
I started my career as an executive assistant for a global executive search firm in Washington, D.C. I then was offered a position at the American Gas Association through Kathryn Clay. Fun Fact: Kathryn and I met on an airplane. After Kathryn became President at ILTA, she offered me a position at ILTA. As they say, the rest is history.

What’s your proudest professional or academic achievement?

My proudest professional achievement is planning and executing ILTA’s trade show, especially selling the most square footage in ILTA history.

None of my own, but I have a “little brother” named Brinkley and a “niece” named Betty White.

Any upcoming travel plans?

I am taking a week-long cruise to Alaska in August.

“What did you get at the Nordstrom sale?”

What is your favorite game or sport to watch or to play?

I play golf. While I am a novice, I try to get out and play as much as possible.

If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose?

The ability to fly; D.C. traffic is the worst.

Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your 18-year-old self?

1) You get what you pay for.

2) If it is too good to be true, it probably is.
