Register Now for the Spring EHSS Meetings – Coming Back in-Person to New Orleans March 29-30!

ILTA is excited to be bringing our Environment, Health, Safety, and Security Committee meetings back in person, beginning March 29-30 at the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans. Be sure to attend and take advantage of this valuable opportunity to network with your peers and learn about the issues and industry developments that matter to your company and your professional development. 

Given today’s fast-moving policy and regulatory environment, we have an important set of items to discuss at this meeting across the EHSS spectrum. It is vital that your company’s views are heard, and that we have the benefit of insights from as many of our EHSS professionals as possible.

Highlights of the meeting agenda include:

• PFAS Policy Update. The Biden administration has been addressing PFAS use on several fronts, including an Executive Order directing federal agencies to cease purchases of PFAS containing products, regulating discharges of PFAS into waterways, and potentially designating industrial facilities where PFAS is present as Superfund sites. Committee members will learn the latest status of these policies and discuss the impacts on their companies.
• ESG Initiative. In 2021, ILTA’s membership developed, and its Board adopted the organization’s first set of ESG Principles. The ILTA Board has called on our organization to build on this work by developing initiatives that illustrate our commitment to these principles. During the Full Committee session. Members will be asked to discuss potential initiatives to illustrate our ESG Commitments as an industry.
• Update on the Gasoline Distribution Working Group’s Efforts to Educate EPA officials. EPA is developing what could be a major rulemaking affecting emissions permitting for Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAP) associated with gasoline distribution. Participants will be briefed on the outreach and agency’s responses to date. 
• Proposed Updates to ILTA Platinum Safety Award Program. Our industry’s safety record has steadily improved over the past decades. While this is a laudable development, the statistics of small numbers means that some companies with excellent safety programs are excluded from our Platinum Safety Award by even a single, minor reportable incident.  Some member companies have proposed ways to update our program to one that is based on an evaluation of safety programs and culture by peer experts, rather than on statistics.
