ILTA Gasoline Distribution Working Group Continues Outreach to EPA

The Gasoline Distribution Working Group continues to work to educate EPA on the potential impacts of a new rule under development at the agency that could impose more stringent requirements on hazardous air pollution (HAP) emissions associated with gasoline distribution. The working group decided to organize a virtual tour to educate EPA staff on the on-site realities and requirements for truck loading. ILTA had previously invited EPA staff for an in-person tour, but in light of continued policies preventing official travel decided to pursue a “Smart Helmet” tour that would allow the EPA team to observe these operations virtually. A “dry run” call was held on February 25, and the virtual tour will take March 2 to allow EPA staff to view gasoline truck loading operations.

ILTA also requested a meeting to discuss with EPA the specific issues raised in our letter of January 6. ILTA is also coordinating with API on outreach to EPA. The EPA meeting will be held via video conference on March 10.

Bill Lee of CITGO and Terri Holloman of Magellan are providing leadership to the working group. Rob Ferry (Trinity Consultants) and Earl Crochet (Crochet Midstream Consulting Services) are providing additional input and support to the working group. A special thanks to Mike Gray (Marathon) for leading the effort to organize the “Smart Helmet” tour.  ILTA is grateful to these leaders and to all the members of the working group for their contributions For more information or to join the working group,  please contact Rob Ferry RFerry@trinityconsultants.com
