MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD
My muscles labored as I walked down The Hill. The view of the lake was beautiful, even though much of the once-expansive beach that I enjoyed as a child was gone. Walking in a place that had been such a significant part of my childhood caused me to reflect. It was the day of the Labor Day picnic for the people on The Hill. The picnic was a farewell to summer, a celebration of our lives together, and for many, the final weekend they would be at the lake for the season. It was held at one of the family cabins, a home now being enjoyed by the fourth generation.

Allies, not Adversaries: Building Positive Partnerships with Parents Parents can be seen at times as obstacles to teachers' ability to help children meet goals in the program. This workshop presents strategies that create positive partnerships between parents and teachers/program leaders that lead to increased success for children. Recognizing the importance of winning parents' trust and establishing good communication patterns starting at intake are key to this process.

All Night Teen Ski Trip - 2/21/14-2/22/14
Chestnut Mountain Ski Resort

Teens from across Illinois as we take over Chestnut Mountain Ski Resort in Galena for one very cool night. Best of all, after midnight the entire resort rented out just for teens! All 17 slopes as well as the 7-acre snowboard park will be open until 2am for skiing and snowboarding. Free ski and snowboard lessons for beginners will be running all night. When teens are ready for a break from the cold, they can head inside to hang out in the video game room and snack bar. All costs are included except the game room and snack bar. Waiver required.
