We have endured some difficult times in the last few years. The bad economy has had an impact on all our lives. The 2013 IAPD/IPRA Soaring to New Heights Conference will be held January 24-26 at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Chicago. The conference proudly features more than 150 educational sessions as well as 18 preconference workshops, an exhibit hall where more than 325 exhibitors showcase their latest and greatest products and services, and a variety of networking opportunities. Each year more than 4,200 of Illinois’ park and recreation professionals, elected and appointed officials/commissioners, and students make this conference the event to attend!

On Friday, November 9, at a ceremony in Oak Brook, the Naperville Park District was honored by receiving the 2012 Governor’s Sustainability Award in recognition of the District’s leadership in environmental practices. The District is among 17 Illinois businesses, local governments and organizations that received the award.

Kirstyn DeSantis joins Western DuPage Special Recreation Association (WDSRA) as Athletic and Social Programs Supervisor. With experience in sports, fitness, camps, and trips, DeSantis will be responsible for program supervision of youth Special Olympic teams, skills programs, bowling, day camps and social programs.
