NEWS YOU CAN USE
In a long-awaited move, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) released new regulations on July 26 to implement the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The new regs are set to be published in the Federal Register (see 28 CFR Part 35). They address long-standing building access requirements for recreation environments and cap a two-decade long process.

IPRA's Cooperative Purchase Program provides members' agencies the opportunity to purchase supplies in bulk with other participating agencies. The program began in the mid-1980s when a group of members was looking to save money purchasing grass seed. The idea of consolidated orders and going to bid together resulted in competitive pricing and savings of up to 60 percent. Participating is an excellent way for agencies to save money and valuable employee time.

HOUSTON – Halfway through the summer swimming season, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has seen news reports of more than 210 child drowning and non-fatal submersion incidents in pools and spas around the country since Memorial Day weekend. In an effort to reduce these preventable incidents, CPSC and partners Safe Kids USA and the National Drowning Prevention Alliance (NDPA) joined forces to introduce a new kids safety education program. The centerpieces of the program are a multi-part educational video and an online activity, which are part of CPSC’s national Pool Safely campaign.
