5-Star Rating for Park District’s Barefoot Bay Family Aquatic Center
Starfish Aquatics Institute gives high honors for lifeguards and staff

Mundelein, Illinois—Mundelein Park & Recreation District’s (www.mundeleinparks.org) Barefoot Bay Family Aquatic Center, received the prestigious Five Star Award by Starfish Aquatics Institute (SAI) following an unannounced performance audit of the lifeguards and management staff at its six-acre aquatic facility.

SAI (www.starfishaquatics.org) is one of the largest lifeguard, swim instructor and pool operator certifying agencies in the nation and provides training and services such as performance audits to the aquatic industry in an effort to improve safety and reduce the risk of drowning. Scott Anthony, Aquatics Supervisor for Mundelein Park District, accepted the award on the District’s behalf.

"Very few aquatic facilities qualify to receive this award," said Anthony. "This recognition and our participation in high-caliber training and programs underscore our commitment and the exceptional performance by our lifeguard and management staff.  We are very proud to be a member of the SAI family and bring this benefit to the community."

Barefoot Bay is a nautical-themed water retreat quaintly situated on Midlothian Road, just behind the Mundelein Community Center. It offers guests and water enthusiasts a wide array to enjoy including a 740-ft. Lazy River, zero-depth entry pool, kids’ climb-on floating water walk, tube slides, dive tank, dedicated toddler area, and the NEW AquaClimb fitness wall. Site specials include daily twilight rates, season passes and special events. Swim instruction is also offered seasonally by SAI- trained instructors.
