HEPD Triphahn Center Preschool Granted NAEYC Accreditation Renewal
1. Promote positive relationships for all children and adults. 2. Implement a curriculum that fosters all areas of child development – cognitive, emotional, language, physical and social. 3. Use developmentally, culturally and linguistically appropriate and effective teaching approaches. 4. Provide ongoing assessments of progress. 5. Promote the nutrition and health of children and staff. 6. Employ & support qualified teaching staff. 7. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with families. 8. Establish and maintain relationships with and use resources of the community. 9. Provide a safe and healthy environment. 10. Implement strong program management policies that result in high-quality service. "This is a significant achievement for our preschool staff because only eight percent of preschool programs in the country are accredited by NAEYC," said HEPD Executive Director Dean Bostrom. Since 1985, NAEYC's national, voluntary accreditation system has set professional standards for early childhood education programs, and helped families identify high-quality programs for their young children. The Hoffman Estates Park District operates a full-day and part-day preschool program at Triphahn Community Center & Ice Arena and a part-day preschool at Willow Recreation Center in Hoffman Estates. The preschool program promotes child development which supports academic excellence. Developmentally appropriate instruction is provided in an environment that values cultural diversity and nurtures a love of learning.
