We will discuss our increasingly complex operating environment and the need to build bridges of understanding between recreation professionals and internal business partners. Attendees will explore the benefits of building a personal brand philosophy and identity as a way to improve organizational efficiency, cooperation and your own professional image.

Who Should Attend? Any professionals involved in the delivery of recreational programs (such as recreation superintendents, directors, supervisors, facility managers and assistant managers) as well as business office staff including accounting, marketing, human resources, safety and technology.

Presented by:

  • Chuck Balling, Executive Director, Glenview Park District. Chuck holds a B.S. in parks and recreation administration from Eastern Illinois University and an M.A. from DePaul University, School for New Learning. He is an active practitioner and leader in the field of parks, recreation and conservation and has more than 30 years of experience at the Naperville, Homewood-Flossmoor, Elmhurst and Gurnee Park districts. Since March 2006, he has served as executive director of the Glenview Park District.
  • Barb Cremin, Superintendent of Administrative Operations, Glenview Park District. Barb has a B.S. in psychology from Loyola University. She has had a professional certification in human resources (PHR) and extensive experience in both the public and private sectors in managing customer service and other operational areas.
  • Laila Bashia, Human Resource Manager, Glenview Park District. Laila completed her undergraduate degree at Marquette University and earned her master’s human resource management (with distinction) from the Keller Graduate School of Management. She holds professional certification in human resources (PHR) and is an active member of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM).
