David M Patt is executive director of the Association of Running Events Directors, providing information and training to parks and recreation professionals and to other paid and volunteer race organizers. He served 15 years as CEO of the Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA), producing the LaSalle Bank Shamrock Shuffle, America’s largest 8K race, administrating a metropolitan-wide circuit of local running events and recruiting corporate sponsors. A runner and veteran association executive, he also provides organizational assistance to membership associations and other not-for-profit organizations.
