The International Student Census Survey, which captures fall 2014 data on international students in the U.S., is part of the Institute of International Education’s annual Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange. The Open Doors report, supported by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, has long been regarded as the authoritative source for statistical data on international student flows to the U.S. IIE’s research team relies on the efforts of dedicated individuals from each U.S. institution to help keep these statistics as current and accurate as possible.

Rahul Choudaha’s article in the University World News cautions against the post-recession "short-termism" of international student recruitment. "Given today’s fiscal challenges, competitive landscape and complex markets, the pressure to increase numbers has led colleges and universities to adopt quick fixes," writes Choudaha. His article poses four questions "every institution needs to ask itself in order to move from quick-fix international enrolment strategies to sustainable ones."

A Chronicle of Higher Education article by Madeline Will reports on Berkeley’s plans to open a "global campus" partnered with universities from around the world in nearby Richmond Bay, CA. "The Berkeley Global Campus, officials say, will offer a ‘global citizenship’ curriculum—with a focus on topics like governance, ethics, health, and sustainability—for graduate students from the United States and abroad," writes Will.
