To mark its 10th anniversary, IIE's Scholar Rescue Fund (SRF) is featuring the inspiring stories of 10 threatened scholars whose lives and academic work have been saved by the Fund.

Professor Mehrangiz Kar is a human rights lawyer and internationally recognized writer from Iran who advocates for the defense of women’s and human rights in Iran and throughout the Islamic world. Her work led to her arrest and imprisonment and ultimately to her exile from her home country. Now a visiting professor at Brown University, she held an SRF fellowship at Harvard University.
