An orientation trip to Cuba for study abroad staff will take place October 15-23.

School representatives qualify using the general license, which is an entitlement of all institutions of higher learning. Only a letter of authorization from a responsible official of the institution is required.

The program will include visits to universities and other sites in Havana, Matanzas, Cardenas, Santa Clara, Sancti Spiritus, and Cienfuegos. For detail, please visit http://cubapeopletopeople.blogspot.com/2011/09/planned-itinerary-for-october-15-23.html

Cost from Miami is $2,350, with a $200 single supplement.

Another orientation program will be held in conjunction with the 8th international congress hosted February 13-17, 2012, by the Ministry of Higher Education and Cuba's universities. The theme is "The University for Sustainable Development."

You can find information at www.congresouniversidad.cu in both Spanish and English. This is a very large event involving universities from all over Cuba and from other countries. As you will see online, the Congress incorporates specialized workshops, symposiums, and forums. Like conferences here, it provides many opportunities for introductions and private meetings.

We do not anticipate that U.S. participants will attend the congress from beginning to end. Special sessions will be organized for U.S. schools to meet Cuban counterparts and learn about institutional cooperation. Additional and alternate program will be scheduled in Havana. Travel to provinces will be available after the congress.
