SPLOIDI remember being so fascinated with automatic car washes as a kid. Your mom would pull up the family car and then relinquish control to what seemed like a highly choreographed ballet of robot arms and soap ballerinas that worked together to clean your car. I would watch the bubbles, listen to the thumping and enjoy the whole experience.

ForbesWhen it comes to cost cutting, companies can take one of two routes. One way involves targeted cost cutting, with tightly focused initiatives to realign the cost structure in a particular business, geography, function or process. It might include trimming indirect costs, outsourcing business processes or using Lean Six Sigma to eliminate waste. This tried-and-true approach to realigning costs works under normal circumstances.

ForbesSearch engine optimization (SEO) is something many marketers, web designers and data miners consider an "American thing"—or at least an English thing. However, SEO bridges language differences, cultural variances and seeps into every aspect of websites (or at least it should!) and website rankings. As a quick reminder, SEO is a set of evolving best practices that dictates where a website "ranks" in a search engine based on the website’s key phrases and keywords. For example, if you Google "ice cream shop San Diego," there’s a reason certain shops come up at the top of Google rankings: SEO. Likewise, if you Google "helado Chihuahua," certain ice cream parlors in Chihuahua, Mexico will come up (and hopefully not Chihuahua-flavored ice cream).

Search Engine LandA couple of months ago, I talked about how the role of an SEO professional is undergoing a serious transformation. Yes, our primary job is still to drive organic traffic and increase organic revenue — but the way that we do that now has changed so much that we’ve had to acquire additional skills in order to make that happen. Nowadays, you have to think and act like a content developer, user experience advocate, digital strategist, creative marketer and cheerleader if you’re going to survive in SEO.
