Kelley Blue Book recently released its list of 10 Best Automotive Technologies of 2021, pointing out some of the most innovative in-vehicle features that are predicted to become industry staples. Several features highlighted—including connected mobile apps, teen driver technology, wireless smartphone charging, and stolen vehicle tracking software—were designed to make life on the road easier and avoid causing driver distraction.
While CES was a virtual simulacrum this year due to COVID-19, the event lived up to its reputation of being a launching pad for interesting automotive technologies, either in the works or ready for mass marketing. Here are some of the ideas revealed during this weeklong event in January.

Not only did Quick Quack Car Wash celebrate the grand opening of their second location in Logan, Utah, on Jan. 25, they also raised funds for a combat veteran. Quick Quack offered free car washes and matched any donations made by customers during that time to benefit veteran Cody Britton and his young family. Cody served seven tours overseas and suffers from post traumatic stress disorder. Two of his daughters have special needs and the funds raised will help pay for service dog training.
Soapy Joe’s car wash in San Diego is bubbling over into Mission Valley, opening its 14th location there. The doors will open in January, making it the third new location for the brand in the past year. An additional location is slated to open in the spring.

ModWash car wash in Eden, N.C., earned applaus by clients and local media for its psychedelic lights, colored soap, "hurricane driven" water and water reclamation process.. ModWash LLC Hutton Corp. out of Chattanooga, Tenn., has 17 car washes in North and South Carolina, Florida, Maryland and New Jersey.
Clean Streak Ventures, a portfolio company of MKH Capital Partners, announced the acquisition of Sponge Spa Car Wash at Daniel's Parkway in Fort Myers, Fla., the company's fifth express car wash acquisition and 18th location in over a year. Clean Streak Ventures operates in the Naples and Fort Myers area under the Clean Machine Car Wash brand, which it acquired in partnership with the Raskin family a year ago.
