To adjust for COVID-19 and create a safe environment for operators to attend, International Carwash Association has moved the 2020 Car Wash Executive Management Institute to November 1-6, 2020. To accommodate the date change, the application deadline has been extended to September 1, but operators shouldn’t wait to apply—the class has already begun to fill.
 
This five-day program is a unique chance for you to expand your learning—or maybe you have an emerging leader in your business who would thrive after a week on campus.

Travel industry experts predict Americans will celebrate the end of stay-at-home edicts by packing the family car and heading for a park or beach, CNN Business reports. Road trips are likely to be the travel mode of choice for Americans this summer.
The global experience with COVID-19 is going to accelerate the adoption and deployment of contactless payment and reduce the use of cash as a tender. Expect to see more contactless, near field communication (NFC) credit-authorization terminals and contactless ATMs in our new normal.
 A wild new concept uses the strengths of autonomous electric car designs to pair them for sharing a charge on the go. Engineers from the University of Florida have designed the system, which they’ve named Peer to Peer Car Charging (P2C2). They’ve put their preprint (not yet peer reviewed) paper online at ARXIV.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, planned increases in credit card swipe fees will be pushed back until April 2021. This news follows Visa’s announcement that it also would delay the deadline for U.S. convenience and fuel operators to upgrade their automated fuel dispensers to take EMV chip and contactless payments until April 2021 due to the pandemic.
Big Splash Car Wash in Imperial, Calif., held a one-day fundraiser to benefit two recently orphaned sisters, one of whom works for the car wash owner Paul Marcinkowski. Elena Rodriguez, 21,, has worked for Marcinkowski for about 10 months. On April 15, she and her sister, Mia, 18, lost their father, Javier, in an industrial accident.

Blue Iguana Car Wash in Missouri is building another car wash. Owner Greg Byler said the nearly 5,000-square-foot store in Springfield should be operational this summer if construction crews don’t experience weather delays.

Mike's Car Wash is helping out the Cincinnati Zoo this weekend. Since the coronavirus pandemic started, the zoo has had to close and furlough many employees. Mike's will donate a dollar to the zoo with each "ultimate wash" purchase.
