International Carwash Association has collected a list of safety procedures from operators across the United States and is making these safety-enhancing procedures widely available for informational purposes, with the end goal of helping operators reopen and operate safely in our “new normal.”
During COVID-19, car wash operators are standing out because they are making one thing really clear to everyone around them: They not only come together to help each other out, they do all they can to help out their communities and people in need. Do you have a meaningful story to share about what your car wash has done to help out -- either helping out staff, helping the community or helping each other?
We are collecting these positive stories for possible inclusion in the next issue of CAR WASH Magazine.

A newly-discovered Apple patent may have big repercussions for our privacy while driving. The patent details a car window that can alter its transparency and tint, implying that users could vary the amount of tint or even visibility through the window from different sides – allowing passengers to see out, but be shielded from those looking in.
The glasses-free 3D display technology from global auto supplier Marelli is a culmination of more than two years of development and significantly enhances the perception, quality and overall usability of automotive digital displays by providing the driver with a greater degree of perceived depth.

The owners of Q Car Wash are supporting local businesses by offering free car washes to customers who have made a purchase at an area restaurant. Any customers who shows a take-out bag and/or receipt from a local restaurant will receive a free car wash. The company-wide “Support Local Business Week” runs April 27-30.

Bubble Bath Car Wash teamed up with more than half a dozen popular car washes around San Antonio, Texas, for a project called the Drive 4 Life Blood Drive to help with blood shortages. Their idea: Donate blood to the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center, and get a free car wash.

New York state has eased restrictions on some car washes after appeals from owners and a business association, allowing the businesses to reopen as long as there is no customer-employee interaction. Automated, external car washes that allow customers to pay via phone app, automatic kiosk, subscription plan or contract are now permissible.
Bush Car Wash in Tri-Cities, Washington, is back open after shutting down temporarily in compliance with Gov. Jay Inslee's "Stay Home, Stay Healthy" order. Now the family-owned car wash business is trying to give back to the first responders and healthcare workers on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic by offering them free washes.
