International Carwash Association is proud to announce the winners of the 2020 Emerging Leaders Scholarships. In its sixth year, this program honors up-and-coming car wash industry leaders under the age of 45.
 
Recipients are selected based on their leadership, dedication, and commitment to their companies and to the car wash industry. Each of our five winners will receive a Premium Pass to The Car Wash Show™ 2021 and accommodations for three nights. Ford, GM and Tesla  have been given the “go ahead” to make ventilators to help alleviate a shortage amid the COVID-19 pandemic, President Donald Trump said in a tweet Sunday that ended with a challenge to auto executives to show how good their companies are. Ventilators are a critical piece of medical equipment for patients who are hospitalized with COVID-19, a respiratory disease caused by coronavirus.

All 26 Mike’s Carwash locations teamed up from Friday, March 13 to Sunday, March 15 to support Cincinnati’s Finest in raising money and awareness for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Together, they raised $11,020 for the Foundation through the weekend-long fundraising event. Customers also enjoyed a $15 Ultimate Wash ($20 value) throughout the weekend.

Woodie’s Wash Shack continues to expand with a new express car wash in Nokomis, Fla. in Sarasota county, set to open during the fourth quarter of 2020. This store will use reclaimed water, with over 60% of it being reused, and is equipped with a dual belt conveyer. This new wash shack is a part of Woodie’s larger expansion to have 20 locations throughout Southwest Central Florida by the end of 2022.

Autobell Car Wash is temporarily adding a “hospital-grade” disinfectant spray to all interior car cleanings amid the COVID-19 outbreak, said president/CEO Chuck Howard. The disinfectant is mandatory and will add $3 to the bill to offset associated costs.

The Bexley Car Wash in Ohio has reopened after a $2 million renovation resulting from a fire that destroyed the previous facility in December 2018. Originally opened in 1955, the Bexley Car Wash is one of the oldest, continuously running, car washes in the country. The newly reopened business includes upgraded technology for spot-free washes, as well as vacuuming, mat laundering and other services.
