Registration is now open for The Car Wash Show™ 2020, the largest U.S. gathering of car wash owners, managers and decision makers. From April 6-8, more than 8,000 attendees will gather in San Antonio, Texas, to discover new products and technologies, enhance business strategies, and connect with a range of car care experts—including car washers, fast lube professionals, detailers, and more—from around the world.

International Carwash Association is now accepting applications for the 2020 Car Wash Executive Management Institute, a program designed in cooperation with the University of Notre Dame to inspire and grow car wash professionals.

Technologies aimed at greatly reducing carbon dioxide from vehicle exhaust emissions and creating “smarter” virtual maps to improve robocar performance were two of the highlights at the recent Innovations in Mobility Show in Michigan. The annual technology showplace is organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers .

Early this year, the Department of Labor announced the minimum salary to be exempt from overtime pay will be $646 per week, or $35,568 per year. Any of your employees who earn less than that must be paid overtime if they work more than 40 hours in a week. But those aren't the only people who have to be paid overtime--those who don't meet the "duties test" need to be paid overtime as well.

Rainforest Carwash, with locations in Mississippi and Louisiana, offered its deluxe “Everything” car wash to customers who brought in a new, unwrapped toy – of at least a $10 value or above – for either a boy or girl. The toys wiere collected at all Rainforest Carwash locations from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and were donated to the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Toy Drive.

Dr. Gleem Car Wash & Lube Center in Houston, Texas, held a toy drive on Dec. 9. Anyone who donated either $20 or a toy worth $20 received a car wash and plate of barbeque in exchange. The cash donations went to a nonprofit, Finishing Touch Houston. The toys will be distributed to local children, from Dec. 11-20.

Pennsylvania car wash chain Mr. Wizard Car Wash installed a rooftop solar system on the roof of its Aston, Pa., car wash last year. The 132 solar panels produced 59,952 kWh in itheir first year and the system should pay for itself within six years. “It was a wise investment based on the payback over a 20-year period, plus the tax benefits,” shared Mr. Wizard owner Gary Regeste.
