Phil D’Agostini has been interested in the car wash industry for decades, but he didn’t take the plunge until a few of his cousins opened car washes and shared their experiences.
D’Agostini was living in California, where he was investing in real estate properties. “California was getting expensive and crowded,” he said. After visiting Utah while his kids were living in the state for school, he decided he liked the idea of living there too. “It’s beautiful, has all four seasons and is easy to get around,” he said.

Alerts from new driver assist systems can be so annoying that some motorists are turning the features off, according to a new survey, the 2019 J.D. Power Tech Experience Index study. Frustrated drivers may even avoid the systems in future vehicle purchases.

Funded through the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, these projects address priorities in advanced batteries and electric drive systems, co-optimized engine and fuel technologies, materials for more efficient powertrains, and alternative fuels and new energy efficient mobility systems.

A car wash-cafe hybrid made its Atlanta, Ga., debut last week. Eco Car Spa and Amazing Salads and Smoothies opened Sept. 6 at 900 Northside Drive NW in Atlanta, offering waterless car washes alongside health-conscious dining options such as salads, smoothies and Italian ice.

Charlotte-based Autobell Car Wash recently conducted its annual cleanup along the company’s designated portion of the Little Sugar Creek Greenway here as part of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities Adopt-A-Stream program. The Autobell Creek Walk began in 2000 in conjunction with Mecklenburg County’s launch of a major stream restoration project for this important waterway.
