What marketing tools do you use to promote your events? Is social media on that list? It should be. It doesn’t matter how familiar you and your business are with social media. In such an environment, it’s understandable that some brands have been tempted to reach for their prescriptive brand guidelines, laid out from on high, to help them weather any storms. Once upon a time, this meant a religious adherence to brand guidelines and controlling brand expression at all costs. From strict logo layouts to highly structured customer experiences and carefully orchestrated advertising campaigns, consistency and discipline were paramount, with any deviations frowned upon.

Should an event owner "always be ready for a sale?" If so, what does that entail? When the Reed Exhibitions’ corporate development team engages with event organizers about a potential acquisition, it’s always interesting to see how wide eyed some get (and understandably so) when the due diligence process is explained. The request lists for financial, legal and commercial due diligence can seem overwhelming. But in reality we can help simplify the process, and once the information is pulled together the seller often learns a lot more about its business as well.
