Today, the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) released the 2017 CEIR Index Report. The CEIR Index analyzes the 2016 exhibition industry and provides an economic and exhibition industry outlook for the next three years. Despite a decidedly mixed performance early in the year and worldwide political turmoil in the second half, U.S. economic growth proved resilient again in 2016, with GDP rising a moderate but unimpressive 1.6 percent.

A new study released today at the Exhibit Sales Roundtable in Washington, D.C. indicates that sponsorship and exhibit space sales are still growing. In fact, the 2017 Benchmarks & Trends in Exhibit and Sponsorship Sales report reveals that 65 percent of organizers reported year over year growth in exhibit space sales while 61 percent reported sponsorship sales growth over the same period.

Emerald Expositions Events Inc. has filed for an initial public offering, according to a regulatory filing on Friday. The trade-show operator generated $323.7 million of revenue, $22.2 million of net income, $63.6 million of adjusted net income, and $89.6 million of free cash flow in 2016, making it one of the few profitable companies to have sought to go public in recent months.

Johnny’s smartphone alarm rang precisely at 5:30 in the morning, but today he didn’t need it.
