Leading the New Normal: Is Your Business Prepared to Re-Open?.

Print this Article | Send to Colleague

As businesses open their doors, universal safety measures and precautions must be in place to ensure staff safety and control the spread of the virus. To get back to work, earn a living and get the economy healthy again, companies have new responsibilities.  Leadership is now tasked with staying on top of the facts, including rapidly changing guidelines and mandates. Planning, preparing, implementing new policies, and training your workforce are vital.  When developing an effective and safe re-open strategy, companies must include a clear, multi-layer communications component.

Advanced safety measures include:

1.    Health Checks (including wellness & temperature)

2.    Facial Coverings

3.    Proper Handwashing

4.    Disinfecting the common areas

5.    Social distancing: maintaining 6 feet between employees

Human Resources personnel and management staff will be required to safeguard their employees. Having the facts, a working plan, and a knowledgeable team in place will instill feelings of safety and confidence, encourage adaptability, and foster the change necessary to define our new normal.  While some companies are scrambling to gather information and draft new policies, some will turn to the advice and expertise of third-party providers. My company, LiveWell 1440, has been partnering with companies and their HR departments to provide employee health and wellness programs long before this pandemic. In response to client needs and continued requests for help, we created a “COVID-19 Project Re-Open Playbook”, a full-fledged plan that offers guidance and supplies to facilitate and streamline the reopening process.

It is critical that we all remain up-to-date with all of the federal, state, and local government guidelines. So, we are continuously gathering and following these guidelines and recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Florida Department of Health, EPA, OSHA, and EEOC. As a result, we are poised and ready to assist our clients with new policy and procedure manuals, Health Check starter kits, Thermometers, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), education and training programs, as well as the health and wellness seminars and programming that we’ve provided for over five years. Whether it is a standard package or something more custom tailored to the organization, we are here to help.

Now, more than ever, it is imperative that leadership be informed, prepared, responsive, and agile.  HR professionals and business leaders putting resources and tools in place to take the “bull-by-the-horns” will prove their strength and resilience in the new normal.

Andy Seiden has over 25 years of sales and business development experience. After spending years traveling on the road, Andy neglected his diet and physical activity. He woke up on his 43rd birthday and said to himself, “I don’t want to turn 50 and feel like I’m 60” so he decided to change everything he was doing for the past 30 years. One year later he lost 40 pounds, going from 210 to 170lbs. Now 51, Andy is using his personal journey and his education to motivate individuals to embrace good health. In addition to his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from Florida Atlantic University, Andy is a Corporate Health and Wellness Association Certified Corporate Wellness Specialist (CCWS).  “I founded LiveWell1440 with the intent of changing lives. In its sixth year – we have been able to touch the lives of thousands of employees across multiple companies. One thing we have learned through our journey is that data can speak volumes, but the true difference is experienced with our onsite interactions with our clients.”
