HRABC

Due to concerns regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus, HRABC was forced to cancel its popular dinner and workshop combo event that was bringing several cybersecurity consultants to share their expertise. But HRABC will be rescheduling the event for a future date and is looking ahead to its all-day Legal Conference on May 6th, before turning its attention to a Diversity & Inclusion Conference in June, Health & Wellness Conference in July, and Annual Conference in October (at the beautiful Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort!).

GMSHRM

On January 21, 2020- The Greater Miami Society of Human Resources Management proudly received the prestigious "Seven Seals Award"  - Presented by Mr. Peter Caspari, Director Employer Outreach, DOD/Florida ESGR (Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve ) Agency.  The award recognized GMSHRM for "meritorious leadership and initiative in support of the men and women who serve America in the National Guard and Reserve"

GMSHRM's Leadership team, along with it's 450+ members, have been working for several years in continuous efforts to support our Military.   As a patriotic supporter and military advocate, GMSHRM designed a strategy that focused on a multiactivity approach to promote the employment for our service men and women.  These efforts were based on establishing strong relationships and collaborations with military support programs and with employers with successful military recruiting and retention programs such as Ryder Systems, Inc., Comcast and Walgreens.  GMSHRM has organized panel discussions, presentations and special events with local organizations such as Mission United and the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, ESGR and universities including MDC, FIU, UM and Keiser.

Program accomplishments were to:

  • Inform local employers of the benefits of hiring qualified veterans, including information about Tax Benefits
  • Share best practices from organizations who successfully recruited and retained qualified veterans
  • Provide individual support to out-processing service men and women to navigate the civilian employment market
  • Staff a Resume Review initiative during a 2-day session for over 60 Reservists at Homestead Air Base
  • Introduce individual veterans in need of employment at monthly meetings and events, promoting their unique skills
  • Invite ESGR and Mission United representatives to selected events to expand networking with employers and GMSHRM members
  • Conduct individual coaching, interviewing skills training and mentorship to veterans who are in search of employment.

Thanks to Johnathan Ross, President of GMSHRM, Pilar Proctor, VP Core Leadership Areas, and the entire GMSHRM Board for their hard work, dedication and support of the military.

GMSHRM is also excited to announce it's 1st Annual Conference, to be held May 14th at Hard Rock stadium.
